Macallan Consulting offers design, analysis, measurement, prototype manufacturing, and software programming services in the areas of electronic circuit and system design. Macallan Consulting has been in business since 1989. Strengths include noise and nonlinear analysis; signal integrity; amplifier, filter, and oscillator design; as well as circuit construction, modeling, and measurement.

Analysis Capability

Macallan Consulting maintains a broad range of CAD tools. Electromagnetic field solvers, linear and nonlinear circuit simulators, block diagram simulators for analog and digital systems, and queuing theory simulators (for data networks and manufacturing operations) are all available.

Design Experience

Macallan Consulting is primarily involved in high speed circuit design. Amplifiers, analog and digital laser and electro-optic modulator drivers, filters, oscillators, converters, PLLs, receivers, and switching power supplies have been designed and built at Macallan Consulting. Macallan Consulting has also been involved in fiber optics, wireless transceivers, digital transmission, path modeling, and advanced packaging/interconnects for commercial applications. We have worked with analog and digital systems between audio and 40 GHz. Softboard, hybrid, and IC (GaAs and Si) technologies have all been used here.

Measurement and Manufacturing

Macallan Consulting maintains a small measurement lab along with the ability to build softboard prototypes in house. We generally work closely with our client Os production staff.

Software

Macallan Consulting develops software in three areas: manufacturing data acquisition, algorithms and code for data analysis, and CAD tools. We have helped design and install several manufacturing databases. We also sell a high frequency circuit and noise simulator called Nodal. Nodal was originally developed for internal use. Nodal has been marketed for over 10 years, and is still used internally.
